Shoulders

Treating extremities (ankles, knees, hips, elbows, shoulders, etc.)
Most people understand that we commonly treat back and neck related problems using chiropractic methods. However, what is not common knowledge, is that we can treat extremities such as knees, ankles, hips, elbows, shoulders, etc. using the same methods.

Our patient base includes many athletes including "weekend warriors", competitive athletes and professionals. We are frequently called upon to address many different types of extremity injuries/issues.

For instance, shoulders can lose normal mechanical function, just like a back, and need manipulation with rehabilitation for strengthening and stabilization. We commonly find shoulders in early stages of degeneration. They are often subject to mechanical problems and respond well to manipulation and stabilization/strengthening training. For stabilization training we use various balance training devices. We do this training in the office and may ask the patient to obtain balance/strengthening devices for home exercise training as well. Recent research has found that soft-tissue techniques such as Graston technique helps strengthen the supportive ligaments of injured joints to aid in the healing process. This is very useful with athletes and non-athletic patients alike.
